What Is An Essence, & Should You Be Using One?

Essence is completely underrated in Western skin care. In Korea, it is considered the heart of skincare and rightly so (hello, hydrated glow).

Essence is a concentrated formula, traditionally, more lightweight than serum, that specifically targets wrinkles, fine lines, and dull and uneven skin tones. While this step is not required in your skincare routine it can provide many added benefits to the skin. The main benefit is hydration, essential to keep your skin healthy and performing properly.

It’s very important to keep the skin hydrated. Hydrated skin reduces the chance of skin problems, fights against wrinkles and keeps the skin looking young and fresh. Who the heck doesn’t want that?!

Essences often come in a watery consistency, meaning using a cotton pad can result in a lot of waste. To get the most out of your essence, pour the product into your palm and tap it lightly onto your face and neck. When applying products to your face you should always tap instead of rubbing. Korean women recommend tapping because it enhances absorption while rubbing your face is not recommended as it causes tugging and pulling of the skin which can lead to wrinkles.

The essence should be applied after your toner and before the serum in your skincare routine for best absorption. While you don’t need to use one every day doing so will leave your skin happy, plum and thanking you with a beautiful dewy glow.

  1. Hello ,

I saw your tweets and thought I will check your website. Have to say it looks very good!
I’m also interested in this topic and have recently started my journey as young entrepreneur.

I’m also looking for the ways on how to promote my website. I have tried AdSense and Facebok Ads, however it is getting very expensive. Was thinking about starting using analytics. Do you recommend it?
Can you recommend something what works best for you?

I also want to improve SEO of my website. Would appreciate, if you can have a quick look at my website and give me an advice what I should improve:
(Recently I have added a new page about FutureNet and the way how users can make money on this social networking portal.)

I have subscribed to your newsletter. 🙂

Hope to hear from you soon.

Maybe I will add link to your website on my website and you will add link to my website on your website? It will improve SEO of our websites, right? What do you think?

    Jan Zac

    1. Hi Jan! 🙂
I am just starting my journey as well, so I’m still figuring things out. I currently have not paid to promote my website, I have just been using social media. I have joined relevant Facebook groups and Pinterest group boards to connect with others and share my content. I don’t think I’m experienced enough to give advise but I did view your page and it looks very professional and put together. I’m sorry I couldn’t be of more help, but I wish you luck on your journy!! 🙂

  2. I never thought to use an Essence, I never fully understood the purpose, although I was hearing wlot about the SK-II water essence. I might consider adding this into my routine. I love a good moisturizer, and my skin seems to love adding extra moisture 😊
I love your posts btw. I checked out Andalou Naturals at Whole Foods they have good stuff!

    1. Thank you!! 🙂 Adding an essence to my routine has totally change my skin and how well it absorbs my other skincare products!
